Assocamp: Motorhomes as a tool to redistribute tourism to Italy's small towns

In Schio (Vicenza province), 8 to 10 motorhomes have been permanently stationed at Piazzale Pubblici e Spettacoli and the via Istria parking lot, prompting resident complaints about litter and misuse of green areas. Fratelli d’Italia councilors Alex Cioni and Gianmario Munari filed three inquiries to the mayor, noting that social services were unaware of seven minors in these families, and the school service had not verified their attendance. Cioni and Munari demand enforcement of Article 41 of the local police regulations banning camping in public spaces, and coordination between police and social services.

Italian manufacturer Laika has introduced the new Ecovip Titanio motorhome series, built on the Fiat Ducato chassis. The models feature a grey-toned exterior, eco-leather and walnut veneer interior, and the MyLaika SCU system for remote control via app. The layout includes two sleeping areas, a kitchen with Fenix countertop, and high-density XPS insulation suitable for cold climates.

Former councillor Elena Marin and the local Lega branch report a shortage of waste bins, toilets, and green space maintenance at the camper area on Via del Marchesato, 16, reducing its appeal to tourists.

A new motorhome parking area has been completed in Lambioi, Belluno. The facility accommodates 12–14 vehicles with a maximum stay of 48 hours. It includes toilets, showers, and dedicated columns for electricity and water. Management will be handled by Bellunum.

The municipality of San Severino Marche has reintroduced paid parking on the Canfaito plateau during peak tourist periods. A daily fee of €5 will apply to cars, motorhomes, and camper vans on selected dates in August, October, and November. The measure aims to reduce littering and damage, as well as to protect the local ecosystem. Motorcycles and vehicles for disabled persons are exempt.

The PATT Pinzolo group submitted motion 05-2026 regarding the creation of a motorhome parking area in Alta Rendena. The document is under review by local authorities. Details of the proposal have not been disclosed.
