A camper rally on the path of St. Francis

The Raduno Francescano in Camper 2026 is a guided motorhome road trip through the heart of Umbria, organised to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi (1226–2026). Participants travel in their campers along the Franciscan route, visiting Gubbio, La Verna, Assisi, Foligno, Bevagna and Spello — a string of medieval towns and Franciscan sanctuaries.

The rally is split into two stages: from 5 to 10 September participants are hosted in dedicated camper service areas in Gubbio and Foligno, with collective bus transfers to each site; from 11 to 12 September the groups gather near Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi. It is a spiritual and cultural journey aimed at camperists who want to combine vanlife with history, faith and the landscapes of central Italy.

Around twenty fines issued to motorhomes and caravans on Regina road

Since August 4, an ordinance on the Regina state road in Italy prohibits motorhomes, caravans, and vehicles with trailers from heading towards Como between 6:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. About twenty fines have been issued since then. Yesterday, police stopped two motorhomes with Dutch plates and a caravan with German plates, each fined 87 euros and forced to turn around. Signage has proven ineffective, so regular checks are needed.
