The roof measures approximately 2,110 mm × 985 mm, supports 200 kg, and raises interior height to about 2.29 m; it was tested through 10,000 open-close cycles. The vehicle features an EREV powertrain with a 1.5L turbo range extender, a 76 kWh battery, 1,705 km combined range, and fast charging that adds 285 km in 15 minutes. Both models are currently China-only.

At Caravan Salon 2026, Lidu RV unveiled a revised interior for its Lidu Aquila 360 pop-up caravan. The design, by a leading European studio, features a cubist-minimalist style with beige and dark ochre upholstery, sun-yellow accent cushions, and dark wood fronts. The kitchen includes an induction hob, small fridge, and sink, plus a pull-out module for an outdoor gas cooker. A compartment for a mobile toilet replaces a traditional bathroom. The electric pop-up roof raises height from 2,245 mm to 2,745 mm. Dimensions: length 5,235 mm, width 2,190 mm, kerb weight 1,230 kg. The body is a steel-aluminium hybrid with 80% aluminium. The base version is priced from 209,900 yuan, while the Exploration version with an electric pop-top roof costs 299,900 yuan. The vehicle features a factory-integrated bunk bed design: when parked, the roof raises to provide a 2.29 m interior height, with a 2.1 m² sleeping area above. It measures 5285 mm long with a 3080 mm wheelbase. The powertrain combines a 1.5T range extender, dual motors and all-wheel drive, with a 76 kWh battery offering 464 km of electric range and 1705 km combined. Standard equipment includes air suspension, adaptive dampers, dual lidar and an Nvidia Thor chip for advanced driver assistance.
China's motorhome fleet reached about 269,400 units by the end of 2025, with annual sales up 24.5% to 23,616 units. Jiangling Motor Group Motorhome, based in Nanchang, sold 540 motorhomes in 2025, capturing a 4.6% market share and ranking third nationally. The company plans to launch new energy models and diesel off-road motorhomes, and to increase annual R&D spending from 5–6 million yuan to 10% of revenue.
At a recent Xiaomi event, the Pengcheng N90 Max Explorer Edition with a roof tent was unveiled, drawing comparisons to a 'Xiaomi motorhome'. The vehicle is listed in the MIIT catalog as a 'plug-in extended-range hybrid cultural-life service vehicle' rather than a conventional multi-purpose passenger vehicle. Xiaomi has confirmed that the vehicle is classified as a small special-purpose bus, and is subject to the same inspection, traffic restriction, and holiday toll-free highway policies as regular passenger cars. However, the initial registration process may differ, and the author notes potential difficulties at registration service points unfamiliar with this vehicle type.
In China, the Xiaomi N90 Max Explorer Edition electric SUV is now available with an electric pop-up roof that transforms it into a two-story camper. Priced at just over €38,000, the vehicle offers a maximum interior height of 2.294 meters when the roof is raised, a sleeping area of 2.110 by 0.985 meters (capacity 200 kg), and a range of 462 km on battery power (76 kWh) or 1,688 km with a 1.5-liter gasoline range extender. Currently exclusive to the Chinese market.

Xiaomi has launched the Skynomad N90 Max Explorer Edition with an electric pop-up roof that turns the crossover into a two-story camper. In China, the price is 300,000 yuan.
Chenji, a town in Yizheng, Jiangsu province, known as the 'Yangzhou motorhome town', has built four standardised motorhome campsites covering a total of 160 mu (about 10.7 hectares) with 150 pitches. The campsites receive more than 10,000 motorhome travellers annually. At the third Motorhome and Camping Consumption Carnival held in 2026 on a 20,000-square-metre site, 66 motorhomes were sold for over 30 million yuan, and more than 3,000 consumer vouchers were distributed. The town's 'consumer circle on wheels' project was included in the first batch of typical cases of diversified service consumption scenarios in Jiangsu province, and its case on promoting new consumption of motorhomes and camping was recognised by the Ministry of Commerce as an excellent practice.
Erode (Guangdong) Emergency Technology has submitted its ARD5042XSY-YZD6 camper for approval in the MIIT's 411th batch of vehicle announcements. The model, based on a Sinotruk Chongqing light truck chassis with a Weichai diesel engine, meets China VI emission standards. It offers multiple length and height options and comes standard with sleeping quarters, cabinets, and a toilet. Sales are expected to begin in the fourth quarter.
Hubei Zhenxu Vehicle & Marine Technology Co., Ltd. has submitted its Zhengyuan-branded plug-in hybrid range-extender camper (model EZY5031TSYU1HEV) for approval in the MIIT's 411th batch of new vehicle announcements. The camper measures 5430mm in length with a 3450mm wheelbase, has a curb weight of 2595kg, and seats up to 7 people. It is powered by a 965cc engine producing 42kW from Zhejiang Chunfeng Power, paired with a CATL lithium iron phosphate battery, and offers a top speed of 100km/h or 120km/h. The vehicle includes a pop-up roof bed, storage cabinets, and sanitary facilities, built on an SAIC Maxus SH6541U1SHEV-N50 chassis.
Shandong Runtai Special Vehicle Manufacturing Co., Ltd.'s Chengwei-branded LRT5060XLJ motorhome has been included in the 411th batch of new product announcements by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The vehicle measures 5998mm in length, has a gross vehicle weight of 5600kg, a curb weight of 5200kg, and is available in 2-seat or 3-seat configurations, with a top speed of 95km/h. It is built on a chassis produced by Sinotruk's Jinan Commercial Vehicle Company. The motorhome comes standard with kitchen equipment, sleeping facilities, tables and chairs, and sanitary fixtures, and features an expandable side-out section for stationary use. In the first half of 2026, sales of self-propelled motorhomes in China reached 6,991 units, a year-on-year increase of 18%.
Dalian Kuanda Special Vehicle has filed an application for the new Langqi KDK5063XLJC6 motorhome in the 411th batch of MIIT announcements. The model, measuring 5,995 mm in length, 2,350 mm in width and 3,200 mm in height, falls within the standard for driving with a C-category license. The motorhome seats four passengers, has a gross weight of 5,510 kg and can tow a trailer weighing up to 2,000 kg. It features a pop-up roof that is only used when parked and comes with standard camping equipment. Sales of motorhomes in China in the first half of 2026 rose 18% year-on-year to 6,991 units.
Henan Hongma Industrial has submitted the Hongmast HMT5032TSYJ6 camper for approval in the 411th batch of vehicle announcements by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Based on the SAIC Maxus chassis, the vehicle offers multiple size options, features a 1.0L range extender from Chunfeng Power and a CATL lithium iron phosphate battery, with a top speed of 120 km/h. It comes standard with sleeping equipment, a refrigerator, and other camping amenities.
