Two fires over the past weekend in the Netherlands destroyed static caravans.
Ommel (Prinsenmeer)
On Friday morning, a static caravan at the closed holiday park Prinsenmeer in Ommel was completely destroyed by fire. The fire broke out around 6:15 a.m. Despite the quick response of firefighters, the caravan was lost. The cause is unknown, and it is unclear whether the caravan was in use. This is not the first incident on the site: since the park closed at the end of 2023, there have been repeated thefts and acts of vandalism.
Venhuizen (Zeger Davidsonweg)
On Saturday night, a static caravan on Zeger Davidsonweg in Venhuizen burned down completely. Firefighters arrived around 11:05 p.m. and prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring structures. A possible cause is a lightning strike during a thunderstorm, but the exact origin is still being determined. No injuries were reported.
