DodgeVille 2026 opens: airfield in Stadtlohn fills with life

The 65th Caravan Salon will take place at the Düsseldorf trade fair from August 28 to September 6, 2026. The exhibition will feature 15 halls showcasing motorhomes, caravans, camper vans and accessories. The opening day, August 28, will be dedicated to a Preview Day for trade visitors. The adjacent Caravan Center parking area will be available for attendees. Tickets are on sale now.

The Stockach fire brigade was alerted on 6 August 2026 at 3:30 p.m. to a vehicle fire on the motorway at the Stockach-West junction. On arrival, a caravan parked on the hard shoulder was fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the embankment and adjacent grass verge. The blaze was brought under control and extinguished within about 30 minutes; the caravan was completely burnt out. Two filled gas cylinders were recovered from the wreck and cooled as a precaution. The operation lasted about an hour and involved four fire engines.

The site provides pitches for tents and motorhomes, allowing visitors to enjoy the tranquility and nature. It is part of the 'Ferien dahoam' series, featuring tested regional activities.

In Neuclausnitz, the smallest district of Rechenberg-Bienenmühle, lies the hard-to-find Erzgebirgscamp Neuclausnitz, built by Horst Kilbel on a former cow pasture. According to locals, it is difficult to locate, as it is at the end of a hedge, with the Schweizerhof hotel serving as a landmark. Kilbel built the campsite single-handedly, and his main concern is a lack of visitors.

Experienced campers avoid spots under dead or damaged trees because branches can break off and trees can fall. The US Forest Service warns that campers spend long periods in the fall zone and recommends checking for cracks, rot, and leaning. Even healthy trees are unsafe during storms, so campers should monitor weather forecasts and warnings.
