The management of the Continental campsite in Castagneto Carducci (Tuscany) has asked permanent guests to vacate their pitches by September 20. The official reason is a tree inventory and landscaping work that will last through autumn and winter.
Guests fear that after the sale of the campsite to a Luxembourg fund, it will be converted into a glamping site, as happened with the neighboring Etruria campsite. The municipality assures that trees will not be cut down unnecessarily and that part of the area will become municipal property. According to Italian sources, the sale of Continental followed the sale of Etruria, and seasonal guests received an email asking them to remove their caravans for a "tree census." The municipality states that all work will be carried out with protective measures.
