In Baratti (Tuscany), the Piombino police fined and removed a motorhome driver who parked in a disabled spot at the first car park. The vehicle had an expired disabled permit and was over two metres wide, which is not allowed for that space. The first car park is for cars only. The only authorised parking for motorhomes in Baratti is the Caldanelle car park.
At the same time, the committee "Cultura e Territorio da Baratti al Cornia" reports an increase in illegal campers and tents in the pine forest and adjacent car parks. According to committee representative Massimiliano Talo, despite the municipality's promises to step up controls, the situation has worsened compared to last year. The committee notes that the lack of real police checks leads to impunity and threatens the area's ecosystem.
