Deadline and requirements
Owners of caravans, chalets and structures at the RACB campsite in Middelkerke (Lombardsijde) must remove their property by 31 December 2026. Existing lease agreements will not be extended. According to Source 1, residents have three months to find a new place.
Reasons
The municipality of Middelkerke appointed Westend Resort Group as the new concessionaire for the RACB campsite and the adjacent golf course for 40 years. The company plans a full reconstruction of infrastructure, including electricity networks, water supply, sewerage and roads. Work is only possible on an empty campsite. In addition, technical inspections, including electrical and fire safety, have expired, so staying after the New Year is prohibited.
Reaction
The camping federation Recread notes that the notification complies with legislation, but three months is insufficient to find a new place, especially for owners of used caravans aged 5 to 15 years. Westend Resort Group stated that there will be no exceptions.
