Permanent pitches to be scrapped
East Flanders province will start personal guidance in 2027 for 240 owners of permanent pitches for static caravans at the De Gavers campsite in Geraardsbergen. Each owner will be called to assess the support needed upon departure. The decision to scrap the permanent pitches remains in force.
Reasons and plans
The campsite will be reduced because part of the site is located in a flood zone. Seasonal pitches, tree houses and tiny houses will replace the static caravans. Work is planned for spring 2029 and will last two years. Some owners recently invested sums up to tens of thousands of euros in their caravans.
