Janggo National Fishing Port in Dangjin, completed in 2021 at a cost of 59 billion won in state funds, has been used for illegal camping and overnight stays in vehicles for several years. Despite 38 guidance notices in 2025 and the installation of banners prohibiting car camping and tent camping, visitors continue to occupy state land intended for port facilities and leave waste behind. City officials say current fishing port laws limit enforcement and plan to impose fines of up to 500,000 won for cooking and camping once amended legislation takes effect next year.
