NHTSA Lists Weekly Recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued its weekly list of vehicle recalls. Winnebago is recalling 2024-2025 Ekko motorhomes because the touchscreen may register phantom inputs and turn on the generator unintentionally. Brinkley RV is recalling 2027 Model I trailers because the exterior ladder may not be properly secured. Forest River is recalling 2027 Leprechaun and Freelander RVs because a battery-post-mounted breaker may be missing, leaving the power feed wire without overcurrent protection. Escape Trailer Industries is recalling 2025-2026 Escape E13 F1 trailers because insufficient ventilation around the refrigerator may allow carbon monoxide to build up in the cabin. Chrysler is recalling 2019-2026 Ram 1500 vehicles because the second-row seat belt buckle anchors may have been improperly installed, failing to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 210.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with 2.7L Engine Can Tow Up to 9,200 Pounds, but Wildwood FSX Trailer May Exceed Payload Limit

A 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Double Cab with a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine is hitched to a Forest River Wildwood FSX travel trailer. Chevrolet rates the truck's maximum towing capacity at 9,200 pounds for two-wheel drive and 9,000 pounds for four-wheel drive, but actual capacity depends on configuration, passengers, and cargo. The Wildwood FSX is a product family with floorplans ranging from 21 to 36 feet, and its loaded weight can approach the truck's payload limit, especially considering tongue weight and axle loads. The owner's question about the combination's viability requires specific data from the truck's door labels, the trailer's weight label, and a scale ticket.
