Hillsville council weighs RV park proposal

Residents of Holliday Outt RV Park gathered Sunday afternoon for a community picnic supporting those affected by Thursday's wildfire. The fire destroyed several mobile homes and damaged the park's water system, leaving residents without clean drinking water. Community members donated food and water over the weekend. Park owner Rick Garrett said repairs to the water system are expected to begin Monday.

An RV was destroyed and a home damaged in Port Charlotte, Florida, on Sunday afternoon. The fire started around 2:30 p.m. on Sansedro Street. Firefighters arriving on scene found the RV fully engulfed in flames, with the fire extending into the attached garage. Crews contained the fire to the garage, preventing it from spreading into living areas. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Vixen Composites, part of the Airxcel family, has expanded its line of engineered composite panels for RVs and trailers. The new products, introduced at the Airxcel 2026 Product Showcase in Elkhart, Indiana, include composite roof and floor panels, ramp door panels, slide-out floor systems, and fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) products. They aim to reduce weight, improve moisture resistance, and enhance durability. The showcase is by invitation only.

The West Feliciana (La.) Parish Council approved a rezoning request Aug. 10 for a proposed recreational vehicle park on U.S. 61 at Wakefield, according to The Advocate. The zoning change met with both opposition and support from area residents, and the Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended denying the request. Emile Marchive III told the council he planned to develop a multi-million-dollar luxury RV park on 99 acres of his 985-acre property, including a 50-60-acre fishing lake, in three phases, starting with 16 concrete parking pads for RVs.

A new campground in Bennettsville, S.C., is expanding its role beyond RV and tent camping. Owners Jimmy and Charlotte Campbell of RV Oasis & Adventures plan a three-day event Sept. 25-27 for World Heart Day, featuring health resources, exercise, outdoor activities, small-business networking, a veterans meetup, vendors, food trucks, and entertainment at 1061 Fruitfarm Road.

Unhitched Management, the hospitality and operations division of Unhitched RV, has assumed management of the Houston/Med Center KOA Holiday, a 165-site RV community at 2919 W Orem Drive in Houston, Texas. Effective Jan. 1, 2026, the company oversees daily park operations, guest services, and property improvements. The campground offers 165 sites, including pull-through RV sites with full 50-amp hookups, tent sites, and cabins. Amenities include a clubhouse, fitness center, heated pool, laundry, free Wi-Fi, and a complimentary shuttle to the Texas Medical Center.
