Two new RV parks open in Japan for camper van travelers

In Yamanashi Prefecture, Hokuto City, the 'RV Park HAKUSHU BASE by bigland' has opened within the 'ANC Auto Resort Park Bigland' campsite, which has been operating for over 30 years. The park offers 13 pitches for motorhomes and caravans at 2,800 yen per night. Unlike regular camping, campfires and outdoor cooking are prohibited, but tables, chairs, and electrical appliances are allowed with prior arrangement. Facilities include toilets, baths, a laundry, and a shop.

A resident of Toyama and Ishikawa prefectures, who spent 19 consecutive months living in a motorhome, compiled a selection of 6 autumn dishes available at road stations (michi-no-eki) in Toyama. The list includes local products such as young yellowtail (fukuragi) and other seasonal specialties. The Himi road station (Himi Banya-gai) offers fresh fish from the local fishing port and operates year-round except January 1.

A 71-year-old Japanese resident converted his 2018 Suzuki Jimny Sierra into a tow vehicle for a homemade trailer with a Wild Land roof tent, featuring a pull-out table and storage compartments. The setup was showcased at the EASY DAY event at Muji Campagna Tsumagoi.

The Tokachi Camping Car Life FES 2026 opened on June 20 at Obihiro Racecourse. In its seventh edition, the event goes beyond leisure, showcasing campers as mobile disaster response bases. Visitors can compare various camper vans and assess their utility during emergencies.

Suzuki has announced its participation in the Tokyo Outdoor Show 2026, held from June 26 to 28 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba. The booth will feature the updated Hustler Tough Wild (released May 27) and Every J Limited (released May 8), both tailored for outdoor activities and car camping. Branded Suzuki merchandise will also be on sale.

Isuzu announced it will exhibit four outdoor-oriented vehicles at the Tokyo Outdoor Show 2026, including a camper van based on a pickup truck and other custom builds for active recreation. The event will take place in Tokyo.
