New campsite plans spark fears for wildlife

A family-owned business operating five parks and accommodation sites on the Yorkshire Coast has received the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for each property. All five locations, including Crows Nest Caravan Park, Lebberston Caravan Park, Jasmine Caravan Park, High Oaks Grange, and Robin Hood Caravan Park, rank among the top 10% of properties worldwide based on guest reviews over a 12-month period. The award recognizes consistent high standards in hospitality for touring caravans, motorhomes, camping, and luxury self-catering stays.

A temporary campervan site has been approved for the Victorious Festival in Southsea. The site at Thirty Two Acres, Eastern Road, Portsmouth, will operate from August 20 to September 4, offering parking and camping facilities. The festival runs from August 28 to 30 at Southsea Common and Castle Field. Standalone gas cooking or heating appliances are prohibited in caravans and trailer tents; parking is not included in camping tickets.

What Car? has named the Volkswagen T-Roc 1.5 eTSI 150 R-Line DSG the winner in the 'Best for towing up to 1300kg' category at the Tow Car Awards 2026. The vehicle received top ratings for towing stability, including emergency lane change tests, and hill start performance on a 1:6 slope. The T-Roc has a kerb weight of 1474 kg, towing capacity of 1500 kg, and 85% match of 1253 kg. The tested version is priced at £38,935, with discounts available.

Fenland District Council is investigating after a boat and two caravans filled with waste, including asbestos, were abandoned in March in Gorefield and Wisbech. The boat was removed the same day; the caravans were cleared later with specialist contractors.

Flexter, a mobility-tech platform, announced a supply partnership with Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental, part of the Arnold Clark Group. The agreement integrates Arnold Clark's rental fleet into Flexter's platform, providing users with real-time access to its LCV inventory. The fleet is expected to go live on Flexter's platform in early summer 2026. Over 40 caravans and motorhomes occupied Old Quarry Park in Birmingham on the evening of June 9. Residents fear litter and theft. The city council says it is taking steps to reclaim the land.
