The Cabildo de Tenerife has opened the first free public caravan service area in the north of the island, located at the waste reception point of the La Guancha logistics centre. The facility allows the disposal of grey and black water, as well as refilling drinking water supplies.
This is the fourth such infrastructure on Tenerife, after two in Arona and one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In the first month of operation, similar areas in Arona and La Guancha received more than 166 users, while the capital district recorded 97 caravans in 14 days. The initiative is managed through the Department of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Safety, and Emergencies; the facility was opened by councillor Blanca Pérez together with representatives of local associations. The mayor of La Guancha, Alejandro Herrera Luis, noted that the new services will benefit both residents and neighbouring communities. Authorities plan to extend the network of such areas to all waste reception points on the island to prevent uncontrolled discharges in protected areas and enhance tourism sustainability.
