Family from Riedenburg embarks on world tour in expedition motorhome

Volkswagen will present the world premiere of an air-inflatable kitchen and a flexible bed system developed exclusively for the new California Beach at the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf, opening on August 28. The modules, created in cooperation with Staff Bubble, can be installed or removed in minutes without tools. The kitchen weighs less than 10 kg, the bed 12 kg in double and 6 kg in single configuration. The system allows the vehicle to be used as a full camper or as an everyday family car.

The Knaus Camping Park in Lübben, situated among waterways and nature, remains a popular destination for Spreewald holidaymakers. Long-term campers like Torsten and Elke Ringvet from Oranienbaum-Wörlitz have returned to the site multiple times.

According to the Pincamp portal, the Harz-Camp Bremer Teich campsite has been named the most sought-after campsite in Saxony-Anhalt for 2026. Two other campsites from the Harz district also made it into the top ten.

In 2025, the number of overnight stays at campsites in Saarland rose by 26.7% to around 190,000. In the first half of 2026, the increase was 3.5% (about 80,400 overnight stays). The tourism board notes that the offer has become more diverse, including tiny houses and motorhome pitches, and that guests' demands have increased. The Ministry of Economic Affairs has funded around 1.4 million euros in campsite investments over the past five years.

Outwell will present its 2027 camping season innovations at the CARAVAN SALON in Düsseldorf, including new Prestige and Deluxe chair series with adjustable seating comfort, flexible awning solutions, and its debut in the roof tent category with the Bamfield 140 and Coombs 135-X models. The showcase will take place in Hall 3 at booth C70.

Vöhringer, Motive Development and CityFreighter will present the CityFreighter Evolve prototype at the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf. The 6.95-metre motorhome is built on a dedicated electric platform and features a 128 kWh battery, achieving over 400 km of real-world range while keeping weight below 3.5 tonnes thanks to lightweight AIRPLY panels. It offers four berths, a kitchen, a toilet and a heat pump. DC fast charging from 10 to 80% takes about 20 minutes at up to 200 kW. Under new EU rules, from 26 November 2029 such motorhomes up to 4.25 tonnes may be driven with a category B licence, subject to additional training.
