In 2025, the number of overnight stays at campsites in Saarland increased by 26.7% compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 190,000. In the first half of 2026, growth was 3.5% (about 80,400 overnight stays).
The region's offering is becoming more diverse: from campsites with wellness services to legal tent sites in the forest. For example, in Losheim am See, the "Wellnester" center opened, combining camping and spa, on which the community spent eight million euros. Along the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig trail, five wooden platforms for tents have been installed. The tourism center notes that the offering includes tiny homes and motorhome sites, and guest requirements have increased.
The Ministry of Economics has allocated about 1.4 million euros over the past five years for investments in campsites.
