Camping Berger in Cologne-Rodenkirchen, located on the banks of the Rhine, is considered the oldest campsite in Germany. It is celebrating 95 years since its founding. According to some sources, the campsite opened in 1929; according to others, in 1931.
The site offers 300 pitches for motorhomes and caravans. The Berger family has been running it for four generations, gradually handing over operations to son Benedikt and his wife Gesa. In recent years, the number of motorhomes has increased while the share of permanent residents has declined.
