French specialists advise placing dried bay leaves in motorhomes before winter storage to repel rodents. According to the Chambre Syndicale Désinfection, Désinsectisation, Dératisation, humidity in an unheated motorhome reaches 70–85%, attracting rodents that can enter through holes as small as 6 mm and damage insulation and wiring; average damage is around €1,500. The recommended dosage is 3–4 dried leaves per cubic meter, placed in cotton bags near ventilation openings, in lockers and around the battery block. Alternative methods include ultrasonic repellents, sprays (€14 to €29), mechanical traps or poisoned baits; ANSES recommends limiting the use of chemical biocides in enclosed spaces.
