Before winter storage, some motorhome owners place a bay leaf inside the vehicle. This method, recommended by professionals, is intended to deter rodents. According to industry data, humidity in an unheated motorhome reaches 70–85%, attracting mice and rats that can enter through holes as small as 6 mm and cause average damage of 1,500 euros. Bay leaves contain aromatic compounds (1,8-cineole, linalool) that mask rodent pheromones. Specialists advise using dry leaves at a rate of 3–4 leaves per cubic meter, placed in small cotton sachets near air vents, in compartments, and around the battery, after cleaning surfaces with a 10% vinegar solution.
