Amy Edwards, 40, from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, along with her husband and five younger children, left the UK in May 2026 to travel Europe in a motorhome and homeschool the children. She withdrew the older children from school after the pandemic, while the younger ones never attended school, preferring home education.
The family bought the motorhome in July 2025 and tested it on trips to Wales and the Peak District. After France, they plan to visit Spain and Portugal, and eventually buy land to grow food and keep animals. Edwards says the decision to leave traditional schooling was deliberate, and the move took nine years of preparation.
