From 26 October 2026, motorhome and caravan owners in Germany may refill installed gas tanks at public LPG filling stations. The change is set out in the updated Technical Rules for Operational Safety (TRBS 3151) and was announced by the German Liquefied Gas Association (DVFG). Refilling is permitted only if the installation meets the requirements of DVGW worksheet G 607, in force since June 2026: the tank must be secured in a sealed housing, removable without tools, and filled exclusively through an external filling connection. Owners of existing installations are advised to have the system checked for compliance before the first refill and to have any necessary modifications verified by an approved expert.
