A landowner in Harburg plans to build a motorhome stopover with infrastructure. The town council unanimously voted to start the zoning plan procedure for the site named “Wohnmobilstellplatz Burgblick”. The plot is located above the upper castle car park on Heidestrasse, directly below the new Stadelfeld residential area. The project provides for 20 motorhome pitches, each 10 metres long and 5.50 metres wide, plus a building with toilets and showers and a storage hall. The site is intended only for short stays of one, two or three days and only for self-propelled motorhomes, not for caravans. A noise barrier up to 2.50 metres high is planned towards the residential area. Existing trees will be felled and native species replanted. As ecological compensation, a payment into the Bavarian Nature Conservation Fund is envisaged.
