The Austrian state of Salzburg has passed an amendment to combat the illegal use of campsites as permanent residences. The trigger was a case in Seekirchen where an owner subdivided land and sold plots for mobile homes at about €1,100 per sqm. Key changes: a permit is now required from the first mobile home plot, adjacent plots are treated as a single unit, and a simplified category for up to 15 self-contained motorhome pitches is introduced. The opposition (SPÖ) criticises the law for allowing one person to buy up to five plots.
