At the Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf, Volkswagen presented a prototype of the new California Beach featuring an inflatable kitchen and a modular bed system, developed together with Stuff Bubble. The kitchen module weighs less than 10 kg and has a closed water supply system. The bed, measuring 200×134 cm, is available as a single (6 kg) or double (12 kg) version.
The modules are designed for quick conversion of the vehicle from everyday to camping mode. The development followed a meeting at CMT 2026 in Stuttgart, and the system is also compatible with the Multivan. The first fully electric camper, the ID. California Cruise, was also shown. Release dates have not been announced.
