European campsites record 135 million overnight stays

According to Eurostat, 135,750,659 overnight stays were registered at campsites in the EU in the first half of 2026, an all-time record and 72% more than ten years earlier. In the Netherlands, more than 10 million overnight stays were recorded in the same period, up almost 1% year-on-year. As of 1 September, a record 635,000 motorhomes and caravans were registered in the country, about 8,500 more than a year earlier. The 61st Kampeer & Caravan Jaarbeurs trade fair will take place in Utrecht from 30 September to 4 October, featuring new caravan, motorhome and tent models and the announcement of the ANWB Caravan and Camper of the Year awards.
