Sales of new caravans and motorhomes in the Netherlands exceeded 10,000 in 2025

Algovia Vans has expanded its small-scale camper van lineup with the Algovia Escape, a 5.40m model based on Opel Movano, Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper or Peugeot Boxer chassis. Standard configuration includes five seats and two berths, with an optional upgrade to six seats and up to six berths. The base price is €64,990; however, kerb weight, payload, delivery time and Dutch pricing have not yet been confirmed.

On the evening of March 29, a fire broke out at the De Meren campsite in Begijnendijk, Belgium, destroying three caravans. No injuries were reported; the cause is under investigation, possibly a gas cylinder.

German manufacturer Bürstner, part of the Hymer Group, has announced it will completely stop producing caravans from the 2027 season. The company will focus on motorhomes and campervans under its 'Bürstner Reloaded' strategy.

On Saturday evening, a folding caravan on Bjirkewei in Twijzelerheide was completely destroyed by fire. The fire was reported around 11:10 PM, and the fire brigade from De Westereen responded with a tanker pumper. Upon arrival, the caravan was fully ablaze; firefighters quickly contained the blaze, preventing further spread. The caravan, loaded with car tires, was deliberately set on fire and is considered a total loss.

Patrick (57) and Petra (55) Gremmen from Beneden-Leeuwen bought a camper in 2019 and travel regularly across Europe and locally. They reject postponing travel until retirement, instead prioritizing trips with family and friends while still working. The couple plans to volunteer at a Croatian campsite in exchange for a pitch after retiring.

On Friday afternoon in Zonnemaire, a caravan battery exploded. The fire department secured the scene after a call at 15:35. The battery was disconnected, removed, and safely packaged for disposal. No injuries were reported.
