Robert Lešnik, Mercedes-Benz head of exterior design, stated that station wagons are no longer relevant. Sales have declined in the US and China, and in Europe the models are too expensive. Mercedes currently produces gasoline-powered wagons for C-Class, CLA, and E-Class, but an electric C-Class wagon is not planned. The decision may change if BMW launches the i3 Touring.
