Britannia Jinkey Jersey Ltd, owner of Pontins Pakefield near Lowestoft, has applied to expand the site with 340 additional caravan pitches for workers building Sizewell C. The park currently accommodates 500 workers. The proposal will be considered by East Suffolk Council's planning committee on Tuesday. If approved, development will occur in two phases: 160 pitches initially, then 180 more. The project also includes a bus depot, footpaths, and other infrastructure. After Sizewell C construction ends, the site will revert to tourist use. Local authorities raised concerns about infrastructure and environmental impact, but planners recommend approval, stating benefits outweigh conflicts.
