Owners of caravans at Cakes and Ale Holiday Park in Leiston, Suffolk, say plans to accommodate up to 670 workers building the Sizewell C nuclear power station would destroy the park's peaceful atmosphere. The park's owner, Harrison Leisure Group, which bought the site in 2023, has applied for permission to build 109 lodges and convert 193 existing static caravans for worker accommodation. Caravan owners claim the park is no longer family-friendly and accuse the company of profiteering. Harrison Leisure Group says it has no choice but to diversify due to poor caravan sales and a loss of £3 million per year.
