According to the European Caravan Federation (ECF), Spain is now the third largest caravanning market in Europe, behind only Germany and France. Data from INE shows that camping overnight stays reached a record 49.7 million in 2025.
A study by CamperDays found that motorhome travel saves up to 29% compared to renting a car and staying in a hotel. The difference is especially striking in Germany during peak season: a campsite pitch costs an average of 37 euros per night, while a three-star hotel room costs 185 euros.
