Spain remains a popular destination for caravan owners, but narrow mountain roads and tight old town centres pose difficulties for long caravans. A light caravan uses less fuel and is easier to manoeuvre. Speed limits for cars towing caravans are 90 km/h on motorways, 80 km/h on rural roads and 30 km/h on unpaved roads. Fire extinguishers, reflective vests and warning triangles are mandatory; from 1 January 2026, Spanish-registered vehicles must carry a V16 warning light, while foreign vehicles may still use a triangle. Speeding fines range from 100 to 600 euros.
