Rhön Camp unveils The Core camper van for five based on Mercedes Sprinter

At a trade fair in Winsen from 25 to 27 September, experts will advise on heating systems for caravans. Gas heaters such as Truma warm the interior quickly and do not rely on mains power; diesel heaters are efficient in sub-zero temperatures; electric and infrared heaters suit campsites with hook-ups; and combination systems allow switching between energy sources. The choice depends on travel habits and usage conditions.

The German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ) has awarded the new Erwin Hymer Group brand CORIGON the "Product of the Year 2026" award, presented for the first time in the vehicles category. The jury evaluated brands on uniqueness, utility and market relevance. CORIGON offers reduced model ranges, proven floor plans and pre-configured equipment packages. For model year 2027, the Teilintegriert Pure range gains a revised T-hood, additional assistance systems and a standard multimedia package with reversing camera, plus an optional diesel heater. The 2.14 m wide Slim models receive a lifting bed and a larger refrigerator. The brand provides a seven-year leak-tightness warranty.

Two people were injured on Wednesday when two trucks and a camper were involved in a rear-end collision on the A3 near Oberhausen, Germany, around 12:26. The camper driver was trapped and had to be freed by firefighters using technical equipment. Both occupants of the camper were taken to nearby hospitals; a trauma helicopter was called but not deployed. A dog was also injured and taken to a veterinary clinic. The A3 was temporarily fully closed, and about 30 emergency personnel responded. Police are investigating the cause.

The Bürstner Signature, named Camper of the Year 2026, has undergone its first test. The test vehicle is a pre-production model with under 1,000 km on the odometer, built on an Al-Ko chassis with independent rear suspension, which provides stable handling. The chassis is rated at 3,650 kg (category B), with a 140 hp engine and an optional automatic transmission in the test vehicle. The base price is just under €100,000; the tested configuration without a garage door is €125,000, and a similar setup in the configurator is €122,545 including BPM and delivery costs. Features include a 137-litre cooler drawer, two burners under a sliding glass panel, a sliding shower wall, and convertible seating.

German company Frankia has presented the Neo Liner 6.6 H motorhome based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. The 6.62-metre motorhome is designed for two people and features a large L-shaped kitchen at the rear. The front lounge area includes an electric drop-down bed measuring 2 by 2 metres. The base specification uses a 1.95-litre diesel engine producing 150 hp and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The starting price on the German market is 124,900 euros.

At Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf, Turkish manufacturer Tosbiq Karavan presented the Tosbiq TK 240 caravan. The living area measures 240 cm long, total length with drawbar is 388 cm, width 200 cm, height about 240 cm, weight 640 kg, permissible total weight 1000 kg (can be downrated to 750 kg). It includes a wet room with portable toilet and pull-out shower, a kitchen with 90-litre fridge, seating for four and a double bed. Price is €16,999. The rival Ankaravan Micro 240 is 240 cm long and costs between €10,000 and €16,000.
