China's Ministry of Commerce to support RV and camping leisure consumption

Jetour has unveiled updated 2026 model year versions of its compact motorhomes, the Shanhai L7 and X70. The hybrid-powered Shanhai L7 offers a range of over 1300 km, while the starting price for the base X70 model is 69,900 yuan as part of a limited-time offer.

China's Ministry of Commerce announced plans to stimulate consumer demand in 2024. As part of a special campaign, the ministry intends to support the development of leisure consumption, including RVs and camping, in suitable regions, and expand low-altitude aviation consumption. The measures also include reforms in automobile circulation and consumption, including support for the secondary market.

The Ruisheng brand under Beijing Automobile Works (BAW) has launched a camper van based on the M7 model. The vehicle features a 2+3 five-seat layout, a side sliding door, a foldable table, a bar counter, and rear seats that convert into a double bed. It is equipped with a roof cargo platform and a side awning. The camper is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 106 kW, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The starting price is 89,800 yuan.

Ruisherg has launched the updated 2026 Ace M7 series, including automatic transmission and camper versions. Both versions share a starting price of 89,800 yuan. The automatic variant features an 8-speed AT and a 2.0L engine, while the camper is offered in two trims with modular camping layouts.

Mo Qiyong, a veteran of motorhome travel with 26 years of experience, positively assessed the development of infrastructure and the camping industry in Guizhou province. He highlighted the large-scale transformation of the transport network and the growth of motorhome clubs from one in 2016 to seven or eight currently, as well as an influx of young enthusiasts into the hobby.

Chinese caravan manufacturer Compass RV is preparing for an IPO, but the deadlines have been repeatedly postponed. Over the past year, the company raised approximately 1.8 billion yuan from investors, including state-backed funds, but these deals came with share repurchase agreements should the listing plans fail by 2027. With over 90% of its revenue coming from exports, overseas exchanges like Hong Kong's are a potential alternative to the Beijing Stock Exchange.
