Woman found guilty of causing damage at caravan park

Peter Murrell, former chief executive of the Scottish National Party, admitted stealing over $540,000 from party funds over 12 years. Prosecutors detailed how he concealed purchases including a $168,000 motorhome, two luxury watches, and nine vacuum cleaners through false accounting. The hearing in Edinburgh continues, with sentencing scheduled for June 23.

A man in his 70s died in a crash on the A40 near Oxford when his caravan overturned. He was driving a blue Jaguar X-Type towing the caravan, and no other vehicles were involved. The incident occurred around 6pm on May 28 between Wheatley and the M40; the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage.

A group of travellers left Beccles Quay (Suffolk) of their own accord after an eight-day stay. Several caravans occupied the green space on May 23, prompting consultations with police. The land is owned by Beccles Fenland Charity Trust, with the town council as sole trustee.

A caravan has been spotted on Kitchener Road in Great Yarmouth, despite the borough council previously clearing almost 20 abandoned caravans and vans from local roads. The council has taken on new responsibility for tackling illegal highway encampments, focusing on Kitchener Road, Wellesley Road, Bloomfield Road, and South Beach Parade. According to the council, five people have been placed in long-term accommodation, and 19 caravans and vans have been permanently removed. Local MP Rupert Lowe has been pushing for removal of the caravans for over 18 months.

Emma Corten from Pontypool bought a second-hand caravan from Trecco Bay Holiday Park for £44,000 about two years ago. The seller agreed to fix minor faults within weeks, but Corten says the work was not done and more serious issues emerged, including windows that won't open, leaks under the caravan, damaged locks and mirrors. After she complained, the park offered to buy back the caravan for £9,000–£10,000, a fraction of the purchase price. Corten, who has multiple health conditions, says the dispute has harmed her wellbeing and she has instructed a solicitor. The park says repairs have been completed and a goodwill gesture was offered.
