A caravan parked on an allotment in the Mietersheim district of Lahr caught fire on the night of Wednesday. A 34-year-old man spotted smoke from his balcony shortly before midnight and located the source, guiding emergency services to the scene. The fire was already well advanced but was extinguished by the fire brigade. The cause is under investigation; no evidence of foul play has been found.
