Cubivan modular system
Austrian startup Cubivan presented at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf a prototype modular system for converting passenger vans into campers. The system, called CCS or Camping System, consists of two modules: a rear module that slides out and unfolds into a room with kitchen and bathroom, and a roof module that unfolds into a sleeping area.
Specifications
- Rear module folded: 1.05 m long, 1.20 m wide, 1.10 m high; unfolded provides 1.90 m standing height.
- Kitchen with stove and refrigerator, 25 L water supply, shower and toilet measuring 90 by 95 cm.
- Roof module unfolds into a bedroom with a 2 by 2 m bed, height 90 cm at the highest point and 75 cm at the lowest.
- Curb weight of rear module about 300 kg, roof module about 130 kg.
The system is being developed for Volkswagen Caravelle, Ford Tourneo Custom and Mercedes Vito/V-Klasse; at the show it was demonstrated on an electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, for which only the rear module is currently available. Pre-orders are open with a deposit of 150 euros, order start planned for summer 2027, first deliveries by the end of that year. According to one source, the full set costs approximately from 22,000 to 25,000 euros, while another source says the price has not yet been announced.
