The council of Villarcayo de Merindad de Castilla la Vieja is evaluating whether to abandon the construction of a municipal motorhome area due to the lack of a suitable location. The ideal site outside the hostel was not authorised by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation. Alternative municipal plots on the Cigüenza road and behind the Pontones development do not meet the objectives. The council may request the Diputación de Burgos to modify funding from the Provincial Plans. The promoter of a planned campsite in Pontones has applied for an environmental licence and expects to install the first bungalows by next summer; the campsite will have about 20 bungalows, a reception, shop and toilet building, a shower and toilet building, and an outdoor parking area.
