Fernando and Ana, a retired couple, left their home three years ago and now live permanently in a 27-year-old motorhome measuring 7 sq m, travelling across Spain. They estimate weekly expenses at about 70 euros, covering motorhome insurance, a phone line, butane and diesel; they no longer pay for electricity, water, community fees, garage or property taxes. They renovated the interior themselves for 1,631 euros instead of an estimated 3,000 euros at a workshop, and installed solar panels.

The Canary Islands government is finalising a regional decree to regulate motorhome and campervan tourism. About 21,000 such vehicles travel through the archipelago each year, yet there are hardly any dedicated motorhome areas; Fuerteventura, which accounts for nearly 70% of camper tourism, has only three waste disposal points and no proper motorhome areas. The draft decree DCC 355/2026 prohibits wild camping for tourism but allows overnight stays inside a vehicle if no outdoor elements (awnings, chairs, tables) are deployed, no liquids are discharged, and no emissions are produced. Municipalities may restrict parking. Motorhome areas will have a maximum stay of 72 hours, extendable until 10:00 the next day, and must provide drinking water, grey and black water disposal points, electricity (for areas with 20 or more pitches), showers and toilets (for areas with more than 15 pitches).

On Thursday afternoon, a motorhome caught fire in Los Cancajos (Breña Baja). Source 1 says the fire occurred at the Los Cancajos parking; source 2 says it was at the parking in front of the H10 hotel. No injuries reported.

A 29-year-old man from Cádiz, José, works as captain of a €6 million yacht in Ibiza. The vessel carries up to 12 passengers and rents for about €6,000 per day. For six seasons he and his partner Vanesa, also a captain, have lived in a camper van worth around €4,000 to avoid rental costs. José says houses in Ibiza cost €2,500–3,000 per month, and last year they paid €1,100 per month for a single room. Workdays reach 14 hours; they use port facilities for showers. The aim is to save for winter.

Villas Caravaning plans to install individual water meters on its 2,134 plots, but the project is still being drafted. Cartagena City Council, Veolia and neighborhood associations met to review technical difficulties: part of the existing networks, owned by the Community of Owners, is not fully known and must be made compatible with the new supply. The work will cover all plots, including those owned by the campsite's managing company. Residents also raised concerns about the fire network, suggesting that opening supply trenches offers an opportunity to carry out necessary interventions. The City Council and Veolia want to start works as soon as possible, but execution depends on resolving issues related to the fire network and electrical conduits.
