The owners of the award-winning Love2Stay caravan and glamping site near Shrewsbury, which opened in 2017, have submitted plans to convert it into a "care village" for people aged 55 and over. The reason given is a significant decline in demand for touring caravan pitches, which has made the current business model unviable.
The project includes 118 homes with communal areas such as pools, a gym and a cafe. The site currently features an outdoor cold-water swimming pool, saunas, hot tubs, an assault course, kayaking and a forest school. The owners plan to work with a local care provider, using existing buildings and the landscape.
