In March 2026, 13 campsites in Valais were ordered to close immediately due to natural hazard risks. By the start of the season, the Riverside campsite in Reckingen (Goms) reopened after a flood protection project was approved. Owner Pim Beijen reports a 20% increase in guests compared to last year. The temporary closure had no serious consequences, though Beijen believes it could have been avoided with faster authorities' response.
