The 6.36-meter van, built on a Fiat Ducato, features an electrically adjustable lift bed at the rear, allowing the space to serve as both a sleeping area and cargo hold. The storage compartment measures 73×111×180 cm. The model also includes a Skyview glass roof and a compact Variobath. Price is €80,990; debut at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf.

German company offers mechanical anti-theft protection for campervans

German company Secure Camper has developed mechanical security systems for campervans, targeting vulnerabilities in plastic windows and thin metal of Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer, and Citroën Jumper cabs. Instead of electronic alarms that can be hacked, they offer stainless steel window profiles and anti-theft plates for doors, blocking the 'prick' method. A wiper saver prevents rubber deformation during storage.

How to keep your motorhome cool in summer: practical tips

In hot weather, interior temperatures in a motorhome or caravan can exceed 30°C, making it unbearable. Opening windows during midday is counterproductive as it draws hot air inside. Ventilation is effective only in the evening or early morning when outside air is cooler. Key measures: install reflective mats on the outside of windows, use roof fans to actively expel hot air, park with the refrigerator ventilation side in the shade, deploy an awning to shade walls and windows. For personal comfort, cooling gel mats can be used. Air conditioning (roof-mounted or portable) is effective but adds 20–30 kg, requires a 230 V hookup, and generates noise.

Owner of old camper loses reduced tax rate due to delayed tax office mail

Tom from the Netherlands lost the reduced road tax rate for his 1986 Volkswagen LT-31 converted into a camper because the Dutch tax authority (Belastingdienst) delayed sending invoices. Due to a new system implementation at the end of 2025, about 400 vehicle owners did not receive timely notifications to pay a quarter of the standard rate (around €120 per year). Tom received neither a letter nor a reminder call, while his friends were called. As a result, the tax authority charged him the full rate, and he now faces higher bills, including a recent €331 assessment. Tom filed an objection in February 2026, but the tax authority missed its response deadline (by May 26), citing workload. The authority refuses to reinstate the reduced rate, stating that the obligation to pay lies with the owner even if the invoice is not received.

Used motorhome: should you choose a profile or a capucine?

The article compares two types of used motorhomes: profile (with a streamlined line) and capucine (with a sleeping alcove over the cab). Profile models, 5.94–7.61 m long and up to 3.05 m high, offer better aerodynamics and fuel consumption of 9–13 l/100 km, but cost more (from €60,000 new). Capucines provide up to 7 berths but consume 1–1.5 l/100 km more and require careful sealing checks due to complex geometry. Used capucines are generally cheaper to buy but more expensive to run.

Camper van owner sleeps on strangers' driveways via Facebook group

Frieda Vuur, who lives in her camper van, regularly stays overnight on private driveways through the Welkom op mijn Oprit (WOMO) group. The group has 22,000 members and about 400 available spots across Europe, including Canada and Ecuador. Founder Lieke Kooyman says the concept helps motorhome travelers find free and safe parking, while hosts enjoy meeting new people.

The CCC organizes six multi-day trips annually in the Netherlands and abroad, plus spring and autumn camping weeks.

Man buys too heavy motorhome: dealer asks €3,450 for return

A couple from Dorset bought a motorhome for €25,500, only to discover two days later that its permissible gross weight of 3,850 kg exceeds the limit for a standard driving license (3,500 kg). The dealer agreed to take it back but withheld €3,450, sparking a consumer rights dispute. A consumer rights expert stated the dealer may have violated the law by failing to disclose the weight issue, knowing the buyers only had a standard license. In the Netherlands and the UK, similar rules apply: driving a motorhome over 3,500 kg requires a C1 license.

Caravan and tiny house: Mini House Caravan combines two formats

Turkish company Ortsan Outdoors has introduced the Mini House caravan, which measures 4 meters in length and 2.1 meters in width when folded, reducing aerodynamic drag. At the campsite, fabric side walls unfold, providing 20.4 square meters of floor space. The caravan includes a kitchen with a compressor refrigerator, a two-burner gas stove, a 200-liter water tank, and solar panels. The starting price is €16,700.
