The Málaga city council has begun evicting campers from an informal settlement at Sacaba Beach, where about 200 vehicles had gathered. By the morning of July 7, about 60 vehicles remained despite the deadline for voluntary departure. The eviction follows neighbor complaints about trash, sewage discharge into the sea, and lack of sanitary infrastructure.
According to one source, about 70 caravans form a settlement on private land near a beach in Málaga. Residents, mostly service workers earning around 1000 euros, have lived there for up to 15 years because they cannot afford rental housing. On March 18, police did not appear for a scheduled eviction, but residents fear future municipal action due to complaints from neighbors in a nearby residential complex about unsanitary conditions, noise, and crime.
