The Boldt family from Osterholz-Scharmbeck went on their first major camping holiday to Venice, accompanied by a film crew for the WDR and NDR show 'Wir werden Camper'. The journey took 20 hours of pure driving time with two stops, and filming lasted six days, including a gondola ride in Venice. According to the Federal Statistical Office, Germany recorded 44.7 million guest overnight stays at campsites in 2025, a record, while prices for motorhome pitches rose by 32.2% compared to 2020 and campsite fees by 28.7%. The family plans a trip to Bavaria in autumn, this time without the film crew.
