A 29-year-old man from Cádiz, José, works as captain of a €6 million yacht in Ibiza. The vessel carries up to 12 passengers and rents for about €6,000 per day. For six seasons he and his partner Vanesa, also a captain, have lived in a camper van worth around €4,000 to avoid rental costs. José says houses in Ibiza cost €2,500–3,000 per month, and last year they paid €1,100 per month for a single room. Workdays reach 14 hours; they use port facilities for showers. The aim is to save for winter.
