Spanish couple Juanma and Tony have spent four years living in a converted Peugeot Boxer van covering just 5 square meters. They gave up rent and utility bills, fitting out a kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area. The conversion cost them 8000 euros.
A solar panel and lithium battery provide autonomy. For heating, they use only two 12-kg butane bottles a year. Weekly expenses amount to about 100 euros. The couple says this lifestyle helps them cope better with chronic illnesses, with one admitting: "I could no longer live shut in an apartment."
