Stellantis has opened orders for the updated 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 118 kW (160 hp) for camper conversions of the Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Fiat Ducato, and Opel Movano. The engine meets Euro-6 standards and is available with a six-speed manual transmission (380 Nm) or an eight-speed automatic (400 Nm). The new powertrain was presented at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, running from August 28 to September 6, 2026.

The article discusses ways to improve the ride quality of motorhomes, particularly through comfort springs, air suspension, and shock absorbers. Unlike passenger cars, where tuning focuses on sportiness, the main goal for motorhomes is increased comfort. Although models based on Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Renault Master, and VW Crafter (MAN TGE) are ahead of Stellantis chassis in comfort, the Fiat Ducato and its siblings Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper remain the dominant base vehicles, whose road behavior can be improved in many areas.

The article presents eight categories of accessories for organizing storage in the rear of campers based on the Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, and Peugeot Boxer. These include rear door bags, nets, chair holders, systems for the upper door area, Euro boxes with side opening, wall bags for ramps, cable bags, and adhesive screw mounts. Most products are installed without tools and leave no traces, and are available from specialized retailers such as Fritz Berger and Camping Wagner.

Max Kleesattel, a 27-year-old from Schwäbisch Gmünd who recently ended his career as a professional climber, travels across Europe in a self-converted camper based on a Peugeot Boxer. He invested around 250 hours of work and 30,000 euros in the conversion, installing a bed, wardrobe, oven, fridge, sink, outdoor shower tank, solar panel, and chemical toilet. Over his trips in various campers, he has covered nearly 100,000 kilometers without a breakdown. He plans to drive to the North Cape in Norway soon, then start training as a professional firefighter in Heilbronn.

The French price list for Carado motorhomes shows a significant price gap compared to the Netherlands. The compact CV540, a 5.41-meter camper van based on the Peugeot Boxer, starts at €48,390, while the longer CV600 (5.99 m) starts at €49,390. In the Netherlands, the same models start at €66,590 and €67,890 respectively, a difference of €18,200 and €18,500. The main reason is the Dutch bpm tax (37.7% of the net catalog price plus €273 for diesel), along with differences in VAT, equipment, and transport costs. Buying in France does not exempt buyers from bpm and VAT when registering in the Netherlands.

The CARAVAN SALON trade fair will take place in Düsseldorf from August 28 to September 6, showcasing the full range of mobile travel products across over 250,000 square meters. 93 exhibitors will present camper vans, including models based on the Citroen Jumper, Fiat Ducato, and Peugeot Boxer. From January 23 to 31, 2027, the boot Düsseldorf water sports fair will follow, expecting around 200,000 visitors and featuring more than 1,000 boats and yachts.

According to Caradisiac, 2,500 vans were stolen in France in 2025, with Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Jumper being the most frequent targets. These models are vulnerable due to accessible rear doors and storage compartments, as well as easily breakable plexiglass windows. In Centre-Val de Loire, gendarmes dismantled a network suspected of stealing 151 vehicles, and near Montélimar, several motorhomes were burglarized in one night.

Rocket Camper has launched the One L, a 6-meter camper van based on the Peugeot Boxer, featuring a longitudinal bed in the rear. The vehicle deliberately omits a fixed bathroom to maximize living space. The bed measures 1.90 × 1.76 m and can be extended to 2.21 m. An optional pop-up roof adds a second sleeping area of 1.30 × 1.98 m. Curb weight is 2,920 kg, payload approximately 580 kg. Price starts at €76,140.

Winnebago has introduced two new compact Class C motorhomes, the Elora and Resa, built on the RAM ProMaster chassis (equivalent to the Citroën Jumper and Peugeot Boxer). They measure 6.2 m in length, 2.3 m in width, and 3.1 m in height. The models accommodate six passengers and four sleeping positions. Power comes from a 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine producing 284 hp and 355 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Electrical systems are powered by a 5 kWh lithium battery. Pricing starts at $153,772.

At the Stellantis stand (B12, hall 17), the Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer and Fiat Ducato will be displayed, along with the small models Ami Buggy and Tris Dolcevita. The Jumper features a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 132 kW (180 hp) and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the Boxer a 2.2-litre diesel with 103 kW (140 hp) and the same transmission, and the Ducato a similar engine. The Ami Buggy is a recreational version of the electric Ami with a folding roof, while the Tris Dolcevita is a three-wheeled last-mile concept. The show runs from 28 August to 6 September 2026.
