Ibiza has intensified evictions of illegal settlements where hundreds of people live in caravans, vans, and shacks. On April 21, police cleared Sa Joveria, the island's largest such settlement, which housed over 130 people. On April 29, a similar operation took place at Can Misses, home to 70–80 residents. Most evicted are hospitality and construction workers earning up to €1,600 per month, who cannot afford rental housing: the cheapest apartment (32 m²) costs €799 in winter.
