Municipalities in Hesse are investing in motorhome pitches to attract tourists and support local businesses. In Alsfeld, a 45-pitch site with electricity accounts for about a quarter of all overnight stays in the town — 23,000 annually — and 28 more pitches are planned. According to city marketing, motorhome tourists spend between 50 and 70 euros per day in Germany. Eltville and Kiedrich are also developing motorhome infrastructure, including pitches at wineries.
