Wintering in Morocco
Alain (67) and Christelle (62) from Aveyron spend three winter months in Morocco in a camper every year. Their only income is Alain's pension of €2,500 per month; Christelle receives no benefit of her own.
Costs
- Pitch at Tarazoute campsite with ocean view and electricity: about €11 per day (for 90 days — roughly €990 excluding transport and food).
- A kilogram of vegetables at the market in Aourir: about €1.30.
For the rest of the year they save by giving up entertainment, restaurants and cinema to finance the trip. The couple say they do not want to spend their retirement doing crosswords.
